For this pride month we will like to celebrate trans model and actor Indya Moore

Better known as Angel Evangelista from the TV series POSE, Indya More is a non-binary native New Yorker who didn’t always have a glamorous life as a model or actor. Trying to escape the insistent transphobia they received from their family and from most of society, Moore left home at a very early age. They were then placed in foster care, where they stayed for many years and where they finally found the acceptance they were searching for.

Due to family discrimination and outdated beliefs about sexuality, being placed in foster care is a reality for many queer and trans youth today. For that reason, during pride month we would like to honor and celebrate the resilience and fight of LGBTQ+ leaders such as Indya Moore and give you a glimpse of their amazing journey to success.

Fashion:

Indya’s first encounter with fame came through a modeling job at the age of 15. They were cast as the face of legacy fashion brands such as Gucci and Dior and became the first trans model to pose for such renowned fashion houses. This was only the beginning of their modeling career – after their initial breakthrough as a model, today they are a coveted choice for most fashion brands and became the first trans person to be featured on the cover of Elle magazine.

They landed their first TV role as a backup dancer in the musical drama television series The Get Down. The series aired for 11 episodes on Netflix. After making an impact on the show, they went on to take a main role in an independent film called Saturday Church, which was screened in New York’s prestigious Tribeca Film Festival to rave reviews.

POSE:

Moore’s appearance in the hit TV series POSE was the deciding landmark of their career. After being cast for the role of a trans sex worker, Angel Envagelista, their acting skills as well as their captivating screen presence placed them as a distinguished actor. Even though the three-season series is coming to an end this year, Moore’s role in POSE has served as a trampoline for the next level in their career, leading them to sign contracts for future films such as Escape Room and Steven Universe.
